WAVE BREAK & MARINA 2015 PLANS

December 15, 2014 12:15 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

Planning is already underway for next year. Top on the list is the wave break and marina which is one of the main reasons for this update. Eagle Beach has decided that the existing wave break will not survive another season and has begun construction of a new wave break (follow the link to see a picture of construction up to this point). The new wave break will be longer and have added sections pointing to the east to provide additional protection to marina, especially the fingers to the northeast.

In addition and pending approval from the necessary regulatory bodies, Eagle Beach will be putting in approximately 27- 8” dia. X 5/8” walled piles, drilled into the bedrock to hold the marina in place. These will replace the existing mooring and chain anchoring system which will be removed. In addition to the piles and wave break Eagle Beach will also be expanding the marina as soon as they install it next year which will be a win/win for BBYC and Eagle Beach. BBYC will not have to wait for the installation of extra berths, nor will Eagle Beach have to make additional trips with men and equipment to do the necessary expansion.

We've also been promised that there will be power and water towers between each set of fingers. We've had our growing pains during the summer of 2014 but overall the change has been for the better, with most members agreeing that the new marina was a very positive development for the club, 2015 looks like it will be a step up from 2014. I’ll pass on new info as I get it.
