Wet Feet

The Wet Feet program is designed to provide a safe and fun early introduction to sailing for ages 5-8. This course, taught in Optimist Dinghies, will teach the fundamentals of dinghy sailing through fun games and activities. Lunchtime supervision is provided. Sailors can register for one week or several. It is recommended that sailors have completed Grade Primary before registering in this program.

Intro Opti

The Intro Opti program will teach sailors the basics of dinghy sailing and give them the opportunity to sail an Opti by themselves. Sailors will learn basic boat handling, knots, and sailing theory in a fun and safe environment. This program follows the Sail Canada CANSail 1&2 curriculum. It is common for sailors in this program to be on the water in the morning and afternoon of each day. This program is for sailors who:

  • Are under 115 lbs
  • Age 9 or older
  • Are new to sailing OR working on completing their CANSail 1 or 2 Levels.

    Intro 420

    The Intro 420 program will teach sailors the basics of dinghy sailing. Sailors will become comfortable handling a double-handed 420 dinghy with a partner. Sailors will learn basic boat handling, knots, and sailing theory in a fun and safe environment. This program follows the Sail Canada CANSail 1&2 curriculum. It is common for sailors in this program to be on the water in the morning and afternoon of each day. This program is for sailors who:

    • Are over 115 lbs
    • Age 9 or older
    • Are new to sailing OR working on completing their CANSail 1 or 2 Levels.

    The Intermediate Opti program teaches more advanced sailing skills, including introductory racing skills, and continues to build on skills developed in Intro programs.  This program is great choice for sailors who want to refine their skills before joining our Race Team, or pursuing their Sail Canada Instructor certifications. This is also perfect for sailors who aren’t sure if racing is for them, and just want to work on more advanced skills and have FUN with their friends. This program follows the Sail Canada CANSail 3&4 Curriculum. This program is for sailors who:

    • Are under 115 lbs
    • Have achieved their CANSail 2 (This a mandatory requirement)
